I know I’ve written about a Photoshop substitute in the past, but I recently came across a Web 2.0 tool that I like even better than what I found before- Pixlr.com. For big photo editing jobs, Pixlr does a really good job filling in for Photoshop. It looks and acts similar to Photoshop Elements, and is really easy to use. The best part of Pixlr is that is is 3 tools in one…

Pixlr Express

Pixlr Express lets you do quick and easy editing for an image. You can choose a file you’ve saved on your computer, or an image from the internet by giving the URL to the image.

Images can be enhanced with small edits: cropping, rotating, and resizing as well as making adjustments to the color and exposure. There are also a variety of filter that can be added.

Here is an image adjusted with Pixlr Express:

Pixlr Editor is a full-featured photo editor similar to Photoshop Elements. It even includes Undo History (my favorite feature), Layers and Navigator!

*The Ferris wheel in the picture is the Texas Star found at the State Fair of Texas. It is the largest Ferris wheel in North America and it is 212 feet tall! The view from the top is both amazing and scary! :-)

Pixlr Grabber

Pixlr Grabber is a screen capture tool that is a Firefox or Chrome Add-On. You download the Add-On and when you right-click on your screen, you have a new choice- Grab. You can grab the entire screen, the visible area, or a defined area. You can then either copy to the clipboard, save to desktop, upload with imm.io or edit in Pixlr Editor.

Pixlr is a fun, easy and best of all- free tool that works miracles for photo editing!
